Southern California Edison Reaches Settlement With Some Government Agencies Over Wildfire Losses

Nov 13, 2019

Southern California Edison has reached a $360 million dollar settlement to compensate government agencies like Ventura County for costs, and losses associated with two major wildfires. The deal includes 23 public agencies in the region, and includes compensation for Edison’s role in the Thomas and Woolsey Fires, as well as the Montecito debris flow.

It calls for Ventura County to receive $20.8 million dollars, the City of Santa Barbara $6.7 million dollars and the City of Thousand Oaks $3.4 million dollars. The settlements don’t affect ongoing claims by individuals or businesses against Edison.

The settlement is over the role Edison equipment mave had had in starting the fires.
