South Coast Surfers Plan Event To Honor Those Who Lost Lives To COVID-19

Some South Coast surfers are holding an event Saturday to remember those who lost their lives to COVID-19.

“Paddle Santa Barbara” is organizing the Paddle Out event.  It’s called "Giving Grief A Place To Go".

Some Cottage Hospital nurses came up with the idea.  The event is intended to support nurses who lost patients to COVID, families who have lost loved ones, and to honor those that supported them.

The event starts at 11 a.m. at Santa Barbara Harbor’s boat ramp.  Paddle Outs are traditional Hawaiian tributes to those who have passed away, and are in effect floating memorials held in the ocean.
