South Coast School District Won't Puruse Reopening Waivers-For Now

Officials with one of the South Coast’s largest school districts say they won’t be applying for waivers to try to reopen for in-person instruction at this time.

Santa Barbara Unified School District officials say after surveying parents and staff they found there was not overwhelming support right now to try to reopen elementary school campus.  They say there were still too many coronavirus related safety concerns.

But, district officials say the Santa Barbara County Health Department has set the stage for small groups of students to be served on campuses.

The district is moving to use that guidance to help students struggling with distance learning.  They say they will start serving small groups of these students on campuses in the next few weeks.
