South Coast Legislator Pushing For More State Support For Seniors

A Santa Barbara legislator is pushing for a master plan to help senior citizens in California.

Democratic State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson of Santa Barbara introduced SB 228, which calls for establishment of a framework to help prepare California for its growing senior population.

It would establish an “Aging Czar,” who would be appointed by the Governor, and set up a 15 person task force.

The task force would look at issues like paying for medical care, developing more affordable housing, and protecting seniors against physical and financial abuse.
