South Coast Congresswoman Introduces Bill Intended To Improve Health Care For Female Veterans

A Ventura County congresswoman has introduced legislation intended to improve health care for female military veterans.

HR 3224 calls for making gender specific health care services available for veterans at every VA health care facility. Some services, like mammograms, aren’t currently available at all facilities.

The legislation is sponsored by Democratic Congresswoman Julia Brownley of Westlake Village.

Brownley says one example of the problem is highlighted by a new government report. It shows that more than a quarter of VA hospitals and community clinics don’t have on-site gynecologists.
