South Coast City Looking At Adding Electric Bike Network To Community

(BCycle photo)
The City of Santa Barbara is looking at teaming with BCycle for development of a bike share program

They were a hot selling item before the pandemic.  Now, E-bike sales are going through the roof on the Central and South Coasts

The City of Santa Barbara wants to capitalize on the popularity of the pedal-assisted electric bikes by setting up a bike share system.

The proposal is to start with a pilot project, which if successful would lead to a network of about 250 of the rentable e-bikes, supported by 500 docks around the city.

The Santa Barbara Planning Commission will consider granting a permit Thursday for three or four of the docking stations for the bikes in the Waterfront, and Downtown areas.  Depending on demand, the goal would be to expand the stations to other areas of the city.
