At the stroke of midnight, the Hotel Californian in Santa Barbara may not be the first ticket of 2019.
It's been told in advance to curtail its planned New Year's Eve party, or make changes.
A request from the hotel to get a special permit allowing for the festive noise was rejected by the City of Santa Barbara.
The current 10 p.m. will stay in place. In response, the party will be redesigned; it will reportedly go from the Funk Zone streets to inside the hotel.
The noise law is similar to one in place at the Santa Barbara Bowl and other venues, where sound cannot exceed 60 db.
