A South Coast community is looking at some major increases in its water and wastewater bills during the next five years. Ventura Water officials say they need the hikes to maintain the current systems, and to invest in future projects.
The recommendations call for a maximum annual water rate hike of 7%, and annual wastewater hike of 6% for the next five years. It means the average Ventura Water homeowner will pay about $38.00 dollar more a year annually.
Under the plan, the overall cost of water and sewage services will have increased by around a third at the end of the five years.
Ventura Water officials will go over the proposal during a series of community council and chamber of commerce meetings. It’s set to go to the Ventura City Council for consideration next month.
