South Coast Car Chase Turned Foot Pursuit Ends With Suspects Found Under House

An incident that began with a reported reckless driver turned into a major chase Wednesday.

Police in Santa Barbara said the driver had pulled over at about 5:30, but then took off.

The car was went south on the freeway at speeds of up to 90 miles per hour, both on the shoulder and in and out of traffic.

The vehicle was temporarily lost, but the Sheriff's Department got a lead when a resident on Padaro Lane said there was an abandoned automobile down a long driveway.

With the help of two canines, the suspects were eventually found hours later, hiding under a house.

Officials say the two arrested were in possession of heroine and meth.
