Some South Coast School Districts Get Funding For Major Vocational Education Push

A South Coast school district has received a multi-million dollar grant to help provide some practical training for students interested in getting into the trades. The Ventura Unified School District is receiving $2.2 million dollars from the state’s K12 Strong Workforce Program.

The school district will use some of the money to create a five acre farm near Pacific High School. The program in conjunction with the Ojai Unified School District will focus on plant and soil science, as well as agricultural Business.

And, the Ventura district will work with Ojai schools, and the Oxnard Union High School District on a number of other vocational training programs. They will include areas like robotics, welding, construction, and auto repair.
