Some Highway Closures, But No Evacuations From Latest Storm On Central, South Coasts

A storm system moving through the Central and South Coasts Sunday and Monday dropped more than two inches of rain in parts of the region, with the heaviest rainfall north of Point Conception. No major problems were reported in brush fire burn zones.

The rain led to the closure of some highways in the Woolsey fire burn area. A dozen mile long stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway is closed from Las Posas Road in Ventura County to Malibu due to minor debris flows. Highway 23 between Highway 101 and the coast is also closed.

2.9” of rain was recorded on San Marcos Pass. Other totals include 2.4” at the KCLU tower site in the foothills above Montecito, 1.4” in downtown Santa Barbara, 2.3” in Ventura, and 1.8” in Fillmore.

Another storm system is headed our way Wednesday, but it’s only expected to mean about an inch of rain for the Central Coast, and a half inch of rain or less on the South Coast.
