With the second of three storms approaching the Central and South Coasts expecting to pack a bigger punch than the first, Santa Barbara County officials announced evacuation orders for three brush fire burn zones starting Tuesday morning. The orders affect people in potential debris flow areas below the Sherpa, Whittier, and Thomas brush fire burn zones.

The areas include parts of Montecito, Summerland, and Carpinteria, but they aren’t blanket orders for the communities. While the orders take effect at 10 a.m. Tuesday people are being urged to make their plans to leave now, so they can be out by 10.

People can take large animals like horses to the Earl Warren Showgrounds, and smaller animals like dogs and cats to the Santa Barbara Humane Society.

Meanwhile, no evacuation orders have been issued in Ventura County. But, people in the Matilija, Wheeler Springs, and North Fork area are being urged to stay at home, and off of canyon roads during periods of heavy rain.
