An earth-imaging satellite was successfully launched from the Central Coast Thursday morning.
SpaceX launched the FORMOSAT-5 satellite into a low earth orbit from Vandenberg Air Force Base. The 11:51 a.m. launch of the Falcon 9 rocket went off without a hitch, and the earth imaging satellite for Taiwan’s space agency was successfully deployed.
The icing on the cake for the company was that the booster landed as planned on a barge in the Pacific Ocean for reuse. It’s the fifth successful Falcon 9 mission from Vandenberg Air Force Base.
