An increase in confirmed coronavirus cases, and a spike in hospitalizations has prompted Santa Barbara County to put a hold on new reopenings.
Santa Barbara County had been looking at allowing nail salons, tattoo parlors, skin care offices and other personal services to reopen. There’s no word now on when that might happen. The state listed the county as one of 13 statewide of concern because of increasing cases, as well as a hike in hospitalizations.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases on the Central and South Coasts is has topped the 4200 mark, with Santa Barbara County reporting 56 new cases, and Ventura County 52.
The current total is 4253. Ventura County has 1706, Santa Barbara County has 2171 diagnosed cases, and San Luis Obispo County 376. About half of Santa Barbara County’s numbers are linked to the federal prison complex in Lompoc.
The number of confirmed coronavirus deaths on the Central and South Coasts stands at 64. Ventura County had had 41 deaths overall. Santa Barbara County is up to 22, and San Luis Obispo County has one.
