Santa Barbara County Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested In Missouri

A man wanted for a bank robbery on the Central Coast has been arrested in Missouri. On June 13th, a man passed a threatening note to a teller at a Solvang bank, and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was hurt, but the man was able to flee before he was caught.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives say they were able to identify the robber as Marcus Lee Ghent, from Central California’s Madera County. A nationwide notice that he was wanted was released.

On June 25th, police in Wright, Missouri discovered Ghent when they were checking on someone else. He was identified, and arrested. After waving extradition, he was brought back to Santa Barbara County.

Detectives are trying to determine if he’s responsible for additional bank robberies around the state.
