It's going to be even easier for travelers on the Central and South Coasts to get to the Midwest.
United Airlines is going to launch new nonstop service from Santa Barbara to Chicago.
Beginning June 4th, United will offer a flight which leaves Chicago at 7:45 at night, and arrives at Santa Barbara Airport at 10:30 p.m. Then, the airline will have a red-eye return flight. It will leave Santa Barbara at 11:20 p.m., and arrive at Chicago's O'Hare Airport at 5:20 a.m. the next day.
The new service will make it easier for people traveling to Europe, because Chicago is a major United hub. The airline will use Airbus 319 jetliners, which can carry 128 passengers.
Santa Barbara Airport currently has six airlines providing daily service. There are more than 30 daily departures to 11 non-stop destinations. A number of airlines have added new flights in the last year.
