Santa Ana Winds Return To Parts Of Central, South Coasts; Brush Fire Danger Increases

A Red Flag Warning for strong wind and potentially high brush fire danger is in effect Monday for Ventura and Los Angeles Counties.

Santa Ana winds could top 50 miles an hour in the region.  The Red Flag Warning is expected to remain in place though six Monday night.

There’s also an elevated brush fire danger in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties, with 20 to 30 mile an hour winds possible.  It’s below Red Flag Warning levels.

More than 80,000 Southern California Edison customers in Ventura County have been warned they may be impacted by intentional power outages as a safety precaution against brush fires caused by downed power lines.  The wind is expected to ease Tuesday, but we could see an even stronger Santa Ana wind event Wednesday and Thursday.
