Santa Ana Winds Create Elevated Wildfire Danger And Potential Power Outages For Ventura, LA Counties

The 2017 Thomas Fire In Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties was initially triggered by Santa Ana wind conditions

A new wave of Santa Ana wind conditions for Ventura and Los Angeles Counties means we will see elevated brush fire danger for the next few days, as well as some possible public safety power shutoffs.

A dry offshore could set the stage for wind in the 35-50 mile an hour range on the coast and inland, with gusts topping 60 miles an hour possible in the mountains.

There’s a Red Flag Warning for high wildfire danger from 6 Wednesday night until 6 Friday night on the coast, and in the valleys.  The Red Flag Warning goes from 6 Wednesday night until 6 Saturday night for Ventura and Los Angeles County mountains.

Some 77,000 Southern California Edison customers in Ventura County have been notified of potential public safety power shutoffs.  They include customers in the Simi Valley, Moorpark, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Santa Paula, Fillmore, and Ojai areas.
