Red Flag Warning For High Brush Fire Danger Extended For Parts Of Ventura, Los Angeles Counties

Firefighters dealing with brush fires in Ventura and Los Angeles counties are getting mixed news when it comes to the weather forecast.

The Red Flag Warning for high brush fire danger was originally expected to end at 6 Friday night, with meteorologists predicting that the dangerous high winds would ease.

The forecast does calls for a dropoff of wind, but with dry fuel and low humidity there's enough concern that the warning is being extended for some areas.

The National Weather Service is extending the warning for Ventura County's mountains, Ventura County Valleys, the San Fernando Valley, and the Santa Clarita Valley through 6 p.m. Saturday.  Firefighters should still get some relief, with peak winds dropping from 50 to 60 miles an hour to 20 to 30 miles an hour tomorrow.

But, the warning for Ventura and Los Angeles County coastal areas is still set to expire at 6 p.m. Friday.
