Recovery efforts continued Monday at the scene of a helicopter crash which killed nine people in Calabas, including NBA superstar Kobe Bryant and his 13 year old daughter.
The shock continues over the accident.
Hundreds of people gathered Sunday near the crash scene in Calabasas, and at Bryant’s Mamba Sports Academy in Newbury Park to pay tribute to the Lakers superstar. On Monday, thousands of people flocked to Staples Center in Los Angeles, the site of so many of Bryant's caeer highlights, to pay tribute to him.
The chopper went down off of Las Virgenes Road, about two miles south of Highway 101.
Los Angeles County Fire Chief Darryl Osby says rescue teams were on scene in less than ten minutes, but there was nothing they could do for the victims of the accident. All nine people on board the helicopter died in the crash.
National Transportation Safety Board and FAA investigators are on scene, starting efforts to determine the cause of the crash. One of the big questions will be if low clouds and fog were a factor.
