Rash Of Rollover Accidents Cause Major Delays On South Coast Freeways

Drivers on Sunday in the South Coast couldn't get far without hitting a jam, not just because of the first full weekend of summer traffic, but also because of an unusual confluence of rollover accidents.

Sunday morning but the driver of a PT cruiser was hurt in a rollover accident in Refugio, and was trapped until fire crews arrived.

A small dog also survived the accident.

Not long after that another rollover occured about ten miles away, on the other side of the Gaviota tunnel.

Finally, As the evening commuters were heading out of town, a messy rollover occurred on the 101 south at Mission Street.

The California Highway Patrol says speed and distractions are the leading cause of accidents.
