Students at University of California campuses rallied Monday against possible tuition increases next year.
UC Santa Barbara students also took part, where students say currently their in state tuition is $12,240 a year.
They want voters, especially other students, to put more pressure on the state legislature to put more money into higher education.
Their big concern, besides accessibility to four-year schools, is the increasing prevalence of student loans, which sometimes take years to pay off.
One analyst said the tuition increase being proposed by the UC Regents would be about $300 a year and covered by financial aid for about 75 percent of the students.
For out-of-state students, the tuition increase would be five percent under the plan. It's been about six years since the last tuition increase.
