A violent chase in northern Santa Barbara County ended with a shootout and the death of suspect Fernando Castro.
Castro was the focus of a search by several law enforcement agencies fro the Bay Area down the coast.
He was believed to have abducted 15-year-old Pearl Pinson from Solano County, and she is still missing.
Castro was spotted and chased through Los Alamos, Buellton and the streets of Solvang, before crashing and engaging in a gunfight with Sheriff's Deputies.
He was eventually shot and killed trying to escape in a stolen vehicle.
Witnesses say over 20 gunshots were heard. No deputies or citizens were hurt.
