Protests Continue On Central, South Coasts Over The Killing Of George Floyd

A protest in Westlake Village over the death of George Floyd

The protests over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis at the hands of police continues to spark protests on the Central and South Coasts.

They have been mostly peaceful in the region.

However, a demonstration in downtown San Luis Obispo Monday night led to police using pepper spray to help disperse a crowd.  Some rocks and bottles were thrown, and there were a handful of arrests.

There is one curfew in the region: the City of Santa Maria put one in effect during the overnight hours starting Monday night which will extend through this week. The decision comes after a Sunday march led to some looting at a shopping center.

However, there are no countywide curfews in Ventura, Santa Barbara, or San Luis Obispo Counties.
