Popular South Coast Trail Closed Because of Coronavirus Concerns

A popular trail on the South Coast is being closed to the public because it has been so overcrowded it can’t meet social distancing guidelines required by health officials to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is shutting down Solstice Canyon as of Monday.

National Park Service officials say the move comes after they saw the trail was overcrowded during the weekend. They’re hoping that people will try some of the less visited trails in the National Recreation Area.

The park’s visitor’s center had already been closed to the public because of coronavirus concerns.
