Popular South Coast Park Reopens After Major Renovation

Cabrillo Ball Park proposed renovation

A popular South Coast park which underwent a major renovation reopened Friday, just in time for the holiday weekend. The City of Santa Barbara’s Cabrillo Ball Park, at Cabrillo Boulevard and Milpas Street, underwent a $1.5 million dollar renovation.

The softball field has been redone, and improvements were made to the bleachers area. A walking path which circles the field has been added, and 13 exercise stations have been installed along the path.

And, a new irrigation system using recycled water was installed. The softball field’s oceanfront view has made it a popular spot for teams to play.

A re-dedication ceremony is planned for September 10th, but Cabrillo Ball Park reopened for public use Friday.
