Police Search For Unattended Dogs, Negligent Dog Owners In Busy South Coast Downtown

If you have a dog in Santa Barbara's busy downtown, Santa Barbara Police want you to know if has to be leashed and cared for.

Police officers on a special patrol Wednesday went searching for unattended dogs, or negligent dog owners to make sure the streets are safe especially in the busy business district.

Some dogs are often left tied to bike racks, poles, or in parks by trees with no owner around.

Other are not leashed, licensed, or properly cared for by their owners.

Police made some contacts and provided educational outreach. No tickets were issued.

Unattended and aggressive dogs have been a problem recently in the area.
