Police Officer Recovering After Being Attacked By Homeless Man In Ventura

A police officer is recovering from injuries he suffered when he was attacked by a homeless man in Ventura.

It happened Wednesday night, at Ventura County Medical Center.  Hospital staff members had called Ventura Police when they became concerned that a man who had come to the emergency room might be armed.

The Ventura Police officer discovered that Henri Brother was on probation,  and as a result could be searched.  Investigators say when the officer started the search, he was attacked by the 54 year old man.

Brother was arrested on charges he resisted a police officer, and assaulted an officer.  The injured officer was treated at the hospital, and while he wasn't admitted, was unable to return to work as a result of his injuries.
