Detectives say they have new information about the death of a man on the South Coast which was initially believed to have been the result of a traffic accident, but was then confirmed to be a murder.
Oxnard Police were called to the intersection of Camino Del Sol and Rice Avenue just after seven Tuesday night by reports of a man on the ground. Officers initially thought they were dealing with a hit and run, but discovered the man had been fatally wounded.
Investigators identified the victim as Luis Ramirez. They think the 19 year old Ventura County man was involved in a confrontation with someone in a vehicle in the area just before the fatal shooting.
Detectives are looking for witnesses who might have seen a blue sedan fleeing the scene on Rice Avenue.
