Plane Makes Emergency Landing On South Coast Street

(Oxnard Police Department photo)
A light plane made an emergency landing on a South Coast street Sunday morning. No one was hurt.

A quick thinking pilot is okay after a close call on the South Coast, after a mechanical problem forced a landing on a street.

The light plane had just taken off from Oxnard Airport around 7 a.m. Sunday morning when the pilot reported engine issues.  The plane didn’t have enough altitude to make it back to the airport.

The pilot was able to safely avoid traffic, and land on Fifth Street near Victoria Avenue.  The plane was later towed back to the airport.
