One Dead, Three Hurt Following What CHP Is Calling DUI Collision On South Coast

One person is dead, and three injured following what CHP officers say was a DUI traffic collision in Santa Barbara County.

It happened Thursday night on San Marcos Pass.  CHP investigators say an eastbound car crossed the center line of Highway 154 near San Marcos Road, and hit an oncoming SUV head-on.

The people in the SUV escaped with minor injuries.  The driver of the car suffered serious injuries.  His passenger, a 21 year old Santa Barbara man, died at a hospital later in the evening.  His name hasn't been released.

CHP officers say they arrested the driver, Brian Dul of Goleta, on a felony DUI charge.  The investigation is continuing.
