After the Plains All-American Pipeline break in May of 2015, ExxonMobil has been trying to move its oil from three offshore platforms to the marketplace in a different manner.
Their latest plan to use trucks was turned down by Goleta city leaders, who say they don't have transportation jurisdiction on the highways for that request.
The oil would come from offshore platforms Heritage, Harmony and Hondo, and then go through Santa Barbara County into San Luis Obispo and Kern Counties.
ExxonMobil was unrelated to the All-American Pipeline break; they say they want to move the oil in a safe and environmental way, while also bringing back jobs and tax revenue.
The matter will be heard later this year by the Santa Barbara County planners.
