Ocean At Popular South Coast Beach Closed For Holiday Weekend Due To Bacteria

The Memorial Day weekend is a popular time to take a dip in the ocean and Central and South Coast beaches.

But, the ocean at one of the most popular beaches in Santa Barbara County is going to remain closed.

Levels of bacteria and other contaminants at Goleta Beach have remained high since just after the destructive January 9th flooding in the county. The beach is open, but the water is closed.

Meanwhile, high levels of bacteria have led to nearby Hammond’s Beach being posted with warning signs. You can go in the ocean, but at your own risk.
