Number Of New Coronavirus Cases Reported On Central, South Coasts Tuesday Lowest In Weeks

There’s some good news in the battle against coronavirus on the Central and South Coasts.  The new case count for the region is the lowest it’s been in weeks.

51 new cases were reported in the three counties yesterday, with just 10 in Ventura County, 26 in Santa Barbara County, and 15 in San Luis Obispo County.  Keeping the new case count, and the percentage of positive new cases low is key for the counties to getting state clearance for more reopenings.

The three counties continue to remain at the state’s purple guidance level, which is the furthest from additional openings.

The death toll for the three counties stands at 271 people, with three new deaths reported in Ventura County, and one more in Santa Barbara County.  Ventura County has had 138 deaths, Santa Barbara County 107, and San Luis Obispo County 26.  Most of the deaths were older adults with preexisting conditions.
