Newly Renovated Dog Park Opens This Week on South Coast

Dog lovers invited to grand opening of newly renovated dog park in Oxnard.

There’s a new place to play on the South Coast for you and your four-legged friends.

For many years, pet owners have been bringing their dogs to Campus Park in Oxnard for some outdoor playtime. The park located at the corner of fifth and H streets has been an unofficial dog park. But, this week it’s becoming official.

“We’re really excited about offering this improved space to pets and their owners,” said Oxnard Public Relations Manager Delana Gbenekama.

This 30,000 square foot park has been renovated into an official dog park.

“Upgrades to the park include two separate play areas, so dogs of different sizes can enjoy playtime," she said. "Double gate entry points that will help keep pets safe by preventing them from escaping the park.”

A grand opening celebration will take place on Wednesday at 4:30 pm. Oxnard Police Department’s Animal Safety Unit will be on hand to help residents license their pets and provide information about spay and neuter programs and pet vaccinations.
