New Ventura County Grand Jury Report Says Cities Need To Fix Cybersecurity Issues

A new Ventura County Grand Jury report says most of the municipal governments in the county are vulnerable to cyberattacks.

The report doesn’t disclose any specific weaknesses it discovered during its investigation, because it doesn’t want to make them public to potential hackers.  But it notes that eight of the cities in the county have less-than-secure addresses for their websites.

The Grand Jury says the local government agencies need to develop comprehensive cybersecurity plans.

And it adds that in most cases, cities are failing to take advantage of free or discounted federal resources to help with cybersecurity.
