New Survey By Non-Profit Group On South Coast Highlights Growing Affordable Housing Crisis

An organization which fights for living wages and farmworkers rights on the Central and South Coasts has released a new survey looking at the affordable housing crisis in the region. A team from Central Coast Alliance United for a Sustainable Economy talked to hundreds of low income residents about the housing issue.

The report by the group known as CAUSE says renters are having an increasingly difficult time making ends meet, with housing costs outpacing wage increases. It means many people have been forced to move, or to share apartments in overcrowded conditions.

The non-profit group is calling on local government agencies to do more to help create affordable housing, and to take steps to enact more protections for renters.
