New Santa Barbara-Sacramento Airline Service Takes Off

Contour Airlines is making it easier to fly directly from Santa Barbara to Sacramento: their new service between the two cities starts Tuesday at noon.

The airline has been able to use its 30-seat planes to fill a niche in service directly to the state capitol.

A spokesman for the airline says the service should save time and money, since otherwise passengers might have to go to Burbank Airport or LAX to fly north.

This addition is part of a trend in the last year, wherein the Santa Barbara Airport has added several new flights and carriers, including Frontier Airlines and Sun Country Airlines.

There are now 32 daily departures from the airport and 12 nonstop destination, including cities in the Midwest, the Northwest, and up and down California.
