New Fees Coming To Scooter Share Businesses On South Coast

Ride-sharing scooter businesses trying to get up to speed on the South Coast may have to be ready for some new fees soon.

Santa Barbara County Supervisors are ready to adopt fees for scooter, bicycle, and car share businesses.

The new fees are aimed at curbing businesses that use sidewalks and other right-of-ways that impact the public.

Both Goleta and Santa Barbara refuse to let the scooters come in, either via drop off by the companies or by being left out by customers on areas that block walkways.

Impound fees can start at $100 and get up to $200 each.

The encroachment permits would be $500 annually.
