New COVID-19 Case Count Still Trending Down On Central, South Coasts; 352 Reported Friday

The downward trend in new COVID-19 cases on the Central and South Coasts is continuing.  352 additional cases were reported in the region Friday.  Ventura County had 141 additional cases, Santa Barbara County 154, and San Luis Obispo County 57.  It brings the three-county total since the start of the pandemic to just under 127,000.

The counties haven’t met the metrics yet to moved down from the state’s most restrictive purple closure tier, but are getting closer.   Ventura County Public Health officials say they have now given out 142,000 doses of vaccine, and that 15% of the county’s population has now received at least its first dose.

18 new coronavirus related deaths were reported in the Tri-Counties Friday, with seven each in Ventura and San Luis Obispo Counties, and four in Santa Barbara County.
