New cars being unloaded at Port of Hueneme; Addition of Subarus to port portfolio of customers means dozens of new jobs

A South Coast port is getting some major new shipments of vehicles which translates into about 60 new full and part time jobs.

The Port of Hueneme just received its first of what will be an ongoing series of shipments of new Subarus made in Japan.

A company called WWS is adding Subarus to its portfolio of new vehicles passing through the port. BMW’s, Nissans, Toyotas, Land Rovers, and Mini-Coopers are among the vehicles already coming by ship to the facility in Ventura County.

When the vehicles are unloaded, workers get them ready for dealers with steps like inspections, accessory installation, and preparations for shipment.

The company already had more than 250 employees, and is adding about 35 new full-time and 25 part-time positions to handle the Subarus.

The port moves some $9 billion dollars in goods a year, and is in the top ten in the nation for handling automobiles and fresh produce.
