Jonathan Stanger is doing a lunchtime concert in the most unlikely of spots. He’s standing in the planter of a driveway to a shopping center just off of Thousand Oaks Boulevard, in Thousand Oaks, playing his saxophone. The professional musician normally performs at high end events, like parties and at estate showings. But, coronavirus has cleared is normally busy performance schedule.
The Conejo Valley man decided he would take his music to the streets, and entertain people waiting for the stoplight to the shopping center. Stanger is practicing social distancing. Sometimes, someone will toss a few dollars out the window as a thank you. But, the saxophonist says he isn’t doing the street performance to make money.
He enjoys performing, and hopes it will make some people smile.
Stanger talked to us earlier in the week, before stricter stay at home orders took effect.
