While some companies are ramping up slowly on the South Coast, retailer Target is hoping to hire about 320 workers immediately.
Those new hires would go to fill a wide variety of positions in their new large-scale Goleta store.
That store is replacing a K-Mart on Hollister Avenue.
The store has been highly anticipated for years, as customers asked elected officials and landowners to find a place for the area's first full-size Target.
Hiring is taking place across the street at meeting rooms in the Hilton Hotel.
Target says it has part-time and full-time work for employees of all stripes, with pay starting at $13 to $18 hourly.
The retailer says the work is a perfect opportunity for students, those looking for a second job, and others who have a short work day availability due to family needs.
The new Target store is slated to open on October 20.
