Patrols were stepped up all night Tuesday and into Wednesday morning after a mountain lion was seen at UC Santa Barbara.
The big cat was seen at Campus Point near the lagoon and surface road turnaround.
Campus police and California Fish and Wildlife responded to the scene, while students and faculty received alerts to avoid the area.
Signs have been posted on a walkway near the area.
Earlier Tuesday on another campus, a different mountain lion was also spotted.
Allan Hancock College's Lompoc campus had its second mountain lion sighting in a week. It's unknown if that second sighting was from two distinct big cats or the same one twice.
