Events are happening across the South and Central Coasts to pay tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr.
The civil rights leader is being celebrated on MLK Day with marches, rallies, music and dance performances, speakers and more.
A unity march kicks off in Santa Barbara at 10 am at De La Guerra Plaza followed by a concert at the Arlington Theater. The theme is “Together We Stand.”
“We’re all together as one. We support each other. We continue to honor the legacies of Dr. King through his message of nonviolence and peace and embracing all people everywhere and in whatever way we can,” said Onja Brown with the MLK Committee of Santa Barbara.
In Oxnard, a march starting at Plaza Park at 8 am ends at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center with a special observance program. In Ojai, an MLK celebration organized by students runs from 10 am to 3 pm at Libbey Park. An event to honor King in San Luis Obispo takes place from 3 to 7:30 pm at Congregation Beth David.
