Man Wanted For Northern California Child Abduction Shot To Death By Deputies On Central Coast

A man wanted in a child abduction case in Northern California has been shot to death in a confrontation with Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies spotted a car heading southbound on Highway 101 near Los Alamos at around 3 p.m. which matched the description of a vehicle wanted in a Solano County Amber alert case. When they tried to stop the vehicle, it sped off, leading to a chase which ended near a trailer park on Val Verde Street in Solvang.

Deputies say as the man fled on foot, he fired shots at them. People in the area were told to stay inside. The man then got into a pickup truck, and fired more shots at deputies. He was shot to death as he tried to flee the area.

Authorities have not yet confirmed his identity. There’s no word yet on what happened to the missing teen, identified as 15 year old Pearl Pinson.
