Man Refuses To Leave House On Fire On South Coast, Dies in Blaze

Police say a man who refused to leave a burning home in Ventura County was fatally injured by the blaze.

Oxnard firefighters and police were called to a home on the 600 block of South D Street just before 5 Wednesday night by a house fire.  Firefighters asked the police for help because a man refused to leave the home.

When public safety workers entered the damaged house, they found the body of a man in its attic. The name of the man hasn’t been released. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
