Man Killed In Ultralight Plane Crash On South Coast Identified

Santa Barbara man identified as victim of Goleta plane crash

Authorities are now identifying the pilot of a small ultralight aircraft killed in a crash on the South Coast . Matthew Erwin Wilson of Santa Barbara died in the Tuesday morning accident.

The 45 year old man had just taken off from Santa Barbara airport when his craft went down next to an apartment complex on Willow Springs Road, in Goleta. He hit a carport, and then a parked car.

Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash, to try to determine its cause.
