A man has been arrested for the theft of some religious artifacts from a South Coast church.

A number of items were stolen from Santa Clara Church in Oxnard earlier this month.  Over the weekend, a church employee noticed someone loitering on the church grounds.  She called Oxnard Police.

Officers questioned Octavio Delgadillo, and say they found out he had some of the items stolen from the church in his possession.

Church officials say some of the historic items were priceless.  Officers say the 36 year old man was a transient who had been staying in Moorpark but had moved to Oxnard.  They say he was arrested more than 20 times in 2019 for various minor offenses.
