Man Arrested After What Authorities Say Was A Drug Lab Explosion On The South Coast

A man has been arrested on drug charges in Santa Barbara County after an explosion involving chemicals used for a suspected drug lab. Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 6500 block of Camino Venturoso in Goleta at about three this morning by reports of a suspicious person in a vehicle. When they arrived they discovered a pickup truck had been damaged by an explosion.

No one was apparently hurt. Officers say they found chemicals normally used in illegal Butane Honey Oil drug manufacturing labs. James Girona of New York was arrested for charges related to making a controlled substance.
